Fluconazole (Diflucan) 150mg capsules contain fluconazole, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat certain types of fungal infections. The capsules have a gelatin shell containing a white powder.
Active Ingredient:Fluconazole 150mg
Indications:Treatment of vaginal candidiasis, fungal skin and nail infections. Also used for systemic fungal infections like respiratory, genital tract infections, including the mouth and throat.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to fluconazole or to any of the other ingredients of this product.
Dosage:The standard dose is 1 capsule (2.5 mg) three days, depending on the medical condition of the patient. Prolonged use may be necessary, which may be achieved by following a dorsal dextillulation or by mouth.

Background:The use of fluconazole and other oral antifungal drugs is increasing worldwide, and it is contraindicated in patients with systemic or hepatic disease. We conducted a prospective analysis of the safety and efficacy of fluconazole (Fluconazole), a fluconazole analogue, in combination with a combination of fluconazole and metronidazole (Nizoral) for treatment of urinary fungal and skin infections. A total of 7,724 patients (3,735 men, 9.1% females) with a mean age of 55.3±11.7 years had received treatment with fluconazole, and the results of the pharmacokinetics were analyzed by the Bio-Predicted Pharmacokinetic (BPK) model. Fluconazole was found to have a very low bioavailability in the blood and in the liver, while the mean elimination half-life was lower than those reported in other studies. The pharmacokinetic profiles of the fluconazole, metronidazole and the combination showed that they had no statistically significant differences between patients treated with fluconazole alone and those receiving fluconazole plus metronidazole. The maximum daily dose of fluconazole and metronidazole was 5.5±4.0 mg/24 hours, while the maximum daily dose of the combination of fluconazole and metronidazole was 1.5±3.1 mg/24 hours. The combination of fluconazole plus metronidazole was associated with a lower risk of recurrence of fungal infections in women than that of the single treatment.
In conclusion:The results of this study indicate that fluconazole, a fluconazole analogue, was associated with a low bioavailability in the blood. The mean elimination half-life was lower than that reported in other studies. The pharmacokinetic profile of fluconazole and metronidazole is similar to that of the combination of fluconazole and metronidazole.
